Fundamentalist formations in Germany? ultramontanist catholicism and national socialism

Abstract Central Europe is often seen as the “exceptional case” in sociology of religion with a high degree secularization, traditional religions process decline, and fundamentalist movements small numbers. However, this may not have always been case. This article elaborates analytical advantages to conceive late 19th century Catholicism early 20th National Socialism two distinctive formations Germany. Seen light, between 1850 1945, were able attract large strata population includes four parts. First, I outline what mean by term “fundamentalism”. Second, will describe German Catholicism, thirdly, movement. In conclusion discuss if their labelling be justified.
